A fundraising campaign to rehabilitate the homes of vulnerable Singaporeans

living in rental flats to reduce their risk of contracting COVID-19

At Oblivion Lab, we prioritise people and put the human experience at the beginning of our design process and with the recent COVID situation, we were looking for ways to apply this human-centric approach on a broader scale.

Recently, we reached out to Habitat for Humanity Singapore, a housing charity dedicated to eliminating poverty housing by providing decent living conditions for low-income communities – a vision that resonated with ours. For vulnerable Singaporeans living in rental flats, their experience in an unsanitary home will be uncomfortable at the very least, and even harmful to their health if they live in pest-infested homes.

Most of us are staying at home in comfort and we have the means clean, renovate, furnish, and even decorate our homes. However, comfort is not (and will never be) permanent. It is human nature to become complacent and tend to forget that we are not invincible – it only takes one person to infect another. More than ever before, we should band together to help those less fortunate than us.

Oblivion Lab is partnering Habitat for Humanity to give vulnerable Singaporeans a safe refuge from COVID-19 by:

1.
Donating a part of Oblivion Lab’s profits for contracts signed from April to June 2020.
We’d like to thank our clients for the immense interest and support despite our short period in business
and this is our way of giving back.

2. Raising funds of $20,000 under the initiative SAFE BY DESIGN to help AT LEAST 10 HOUSEHOLDS (baby steps!). The funds will go directly to Habitat for Humanity Singapore. They will be used for engaging essential services such as fumigation and cleaning during this period and to further rehabilitate these living conditions after the circuit breaker (example, purchase a proper bed, paint supplies, and basic storage solutions).

Whether or not you are planning to renovate, we hope that you can lend a helping hand. Your donations will contribute to improving their living conditions and reducing their risk of getting infected with COVID-19.
